This walkthrough creates a new contract from scratch, adds a product to it, applies a discount, and gets it ready to bill.

Before you start

Make sure the customer already exists in Zenskar, and that you’ve added at least one product to your catalog. You’ll need both before you can build a contract.

Step 1: Start a new contract

  1. Go to Contracts in the side panel and click + ADD NEW CONTRACT.
  2. Leave Get started with a plan unchecked. This walkthrough builds a contract from scratch rather than from a reusable template.
  3. Select the Customer.
  4. Give the contract a name.

Step 2: Set the contract period and billing cycle

  1. Set the Contract period, the start and end dates the agreed terms are valid for.
  2. Set Start billing cycle on, the date invoicing actually begins. This can be different from the contract’s start date.
  3. Choose the Currency.
  4. Click Proceed. You’ll land on the contract’s Summary tab, with a default phase already created spanning the full contract period.
There’s no renewal policy field on this form. Every contract renews according to “don’t renew automatically” unless your organization has set a different default. See contract renewal: concepts if you want to change that.

Step 3: Add a product

  1. Click + Add Product.
  2. Search for and select the product you want to sell on this contract.
  3. Choose its pricing.

Step 4: Add a discount

  1. Click Configure Features on the phase.
  2. Add a discount, for example 10% off.

Step 5: Review and activate

  1. Review the contract’s Summary tab.
  2. Move the contract from draft to active when you’re ready for it to start billing.
