Stripe is a payment gateway integration. Once connected, Zenskar syncs customer records with Stripe, generates payment links and Stripe Checkout sessions for invoices, charges invoices against a customer’s saved payment method, and reconciles ACH credit transfers.

Connect Stripe

Prerequisites

Managed Payments: Zenskar uses Stripe Connect, which is not compatible with Managed Payments. If Managed Payments is enabled on your Stripe account, read Stripe’s Managed Payments guide and disable it before you connect.Duplicate connections: Each Stripe account can only be connected once. If you try to connect a Stripe account that is already connected to Zenskar, whether under this entity or another one, Zenskar blocks the connection.Recommendations:
  • Connect a Stripe account whose mode, test or live, matches the environment being configured: a test-mode Stripe account for sandbox, a live-mode Stripe account for production.
  • Do not connect a Stripe account that already has another platform, such as Xero, connected to it.
If either recommendation does not fit your use case, contact help@zenskar.com before proceeding.

Steps

  1. Go to More > Integrations > Payment Gateways, find the Stripe card, and click Connect. Payment Gateways category on the Integrations page, Stripe card with the Connect button
  2. On the Stripe page, click Connect to Stripe. Stripe overview page in Zenskar, with the Connect to Stripe button
  3. In the confirmation dialog, click Connect. Connect confirmation dialog in Zenskar, showing the Managed Payments warning and the Connect button
Zenskar returns you to the Configuration screen.

Configure the connection

  1. Under Select Zenskar Entity, select the entity this connection belongs to. This is required. Save Configuration stays disabled until you select one, and you cannot change it after saving.
  2. Enable the Customers module to sync customer data between Stripe and Zenskar, and choose a Sync Direction:
  3. Click Save Configuration. Configuration screen with Select Zenskar Entity set, Customers module on, Sync Direction set to Import & Export, and Save Configuration Once saved, the connection shows as Configured on the Stripe Connections tab. • Export and Import & Export push a customer to Stripe only when it is first created in Zenskar. If a customer already existed before Stripe was connected, or before Export was turned on, editing and saving it does not push it to Stripe.
  • Import direction only updates customers that already exist on both platforms; it never creates new Zenskar customers. To bring in existing Stripe customers for the first time, use Zenskar’s bulk customer CSV import: include each customer’s Stripe customer ID in a reference_id column to link them, and optionally import their payment methods and invoice numbering from Stripe in the same upload.

Configure payment settings

These settings apply to every Stripe Checkout session across Zenskar. They are not configured per connection. Go to Settings > Payment. Settings > Payment page, with the Payment Settings and Checkout Redirect URLs cards Under Payment Settings: Under Checkout Redirect URLs, set where Zenskar sends the customer after checkout: Success URL, Failure URL, and Payment Already Completed URL.

Features

  • Add a payment link when you create an invoice, or turn one on later from an existing invoice with the Include Payment Link toggle. This toggle is only available once Stripe is configured for that customer.
  • With a payment link on, you can also turn on Allow Partial Payment so the customer can pay any amount up to the invoice total.
  • When a customer clicks PAY ONLINE on the invoice, Zenskar shows a Confirm Payment page, then opens a Stripe Checkout session using the payment methods set in Settings > Payment.
