Before you start
Decide what you’re selling and whether it’s a standalone product or a bundle of several products sold together. You can always create the bundled products first and combine them later, but it’s worth having a rough shape in mind before you start.Step 1: Start a new product
- Go to Contracts → Products and click to add a new product.
- Give it a name. This is what shows up on invoices and reports, so make it something your customers will recognize.
- Optionally, add a description and an SKU if you sync your catalog with an ERP or inventory system.
Step 2: Choose standalone or bundle
Leave the product type as standalone unless you’re specifically grouping several products together. If you are building a bundle, you’ll be prompted to add its member products next, each of which can either reuse an existing price or get one that only applies inside this bundle.Step 3: Set the tax code
Add a tax code so Zenskar knows how to tax this product, whether that’s resolved through Avalara or a rate you manage yourself.Step 4: Save the product
Save your product. At this point, it exists in your catalog but has no price yet. That’s the next step.Step 5: Add a price
- Open the product you just created.
- Add a pricing model. For a straightforward product, per-unit or flat fee pricing is a natural starting point.
- Fill in the rate for that pricing model.

Step 6: Add a discount
While you’re on the pricing screen, add a discount feature, for example a 10% percent discount, so you can see how a feature attaches to a price rather than existing as its own catalog item.Step 7: Use the product on a contract
Your product is now ready. Add it to a phase on a contract or plan, and the pricing and discount you just configured will apply automatically. What’s next
